Option 1: Drake Bay Route

Fly into San José International Airport (SJO)
Collect your luggage, pass through customs, then take a short 5–10 minute walk to the Domestic Terminal.
Take a SANSA domestic flight to Drake Bay Airstrip (approx. 45 minutes)
We recommend allowing 3 hours between your international arrival and domestic flight. If your flight arrives late, you can simply stay one night in San José (there are plenty of nearby hotels with shuttles and restaurants).
At Drake Bay Airstrip, our taxi driver will meet you and handle your luggage. Drive 30–45 minutes through the scenic rainforest to the Drake Bay shoreline.

Transfer to our boat
You might need to step in shallow water, so we suggest sandals, water shoes, or going barefoot. The waters are usually calm, but can sometimes be bumpy, depending on the season. Our staff will assist you every step of the way.
Enjoy a 10-minute boat ride to Copa de Arbol. Upon arrival, our team will greet you with a welcome drink and your luggage will be handled for you.
Option 2: Sierpe Route

Take a boat to Copa De Arbol
Option 1:
A Private Boat Transfer
Allow us to arrange a customized boat ride for you and your party – comfort, exclusivity, and seamless service. The boat ride takes about 1 hour, traveling south along the river and out to the ocean. This option costs slightly more and rates may vary.
Option 2:
The Shared Taxi Boat
The Colectivo taxi boat costs approx. $25–$35 per person, subject to change. It departs twice daily and may take longer to arrive due to additional passenger pickups and drop-offs.
Both private and Colectivo boats arrive directly at Copa de Arbol’s shoreline. You might need to step in shallow water, so we suggest sandals, water shoes, or going barefoot. Our staff will assist you every step of the way.
Upon arrival, our team will greet you with a welcome drink and your luggage will be handled for you.

- Prices for flights, boats, and cars vary by season and are not covered by the hotel.
- Guests should expect some light adventure (walking in shallow water, bumpy rides, weather variation).
- Our staff is always there to help — most guests find this part of the journey to be a fun, memorable part of the experience.

Drake Bay Airport ↔ Copa De Arbol Taxi and boat transfer: $40 per person, each way.
SIERPE Transfers
Sierpe ↔ Copa De Arbol
Boat transfer (approximately 1 hour, 2 person minimum) for 3 guests: $120 per person each way; 4+ guests: $95 per person each way.
This scenic route travels through the beautiful mangrove forests along the Sierpe River.
DOMESTIC FLIGHTS
San José ↔ Drake Bay Airport or Palmar Sur Airport Round-trip: approximately $280 per person ($140 each way; prices may vary by season)

For a faster journey
For the smoothest journey – especially if traveling with children or anyone with mobility needs – we recommend choosing Option 1: flying with SANSA from San José to the Drake Bay airstrip. The 45-minute flight is the quickest way to arrive, followed by a short taxi and boat transfer that delivers you right to the hotel with ease.
For more excitement
Want your arrival to feel like part of the adventure? Choose Option 2: drive to Sierpe and take a boat journey through Central America’s largest mangrove forest. This breathtaking ride offers an unforgettable first glimpse of the Osa Peninsula’s incredible biodiversity before you arrive at Copa de Arbol’s shoreline.
Get your feet wet
For comfort during boat transfers, we recommend sandals or water shoes. The experience is laid-back and authentic, and the right footwear makes getting on and off the boats much easier.
Stay hydrated
Bring along a reusable water bottle to stay cool and refreshed in the tropical climate. You’ll find fresh, chilled water available at the hotel to refill anytime. It’s a simple step that also helps reduce single-use plastics and supports our commitment to sustainability.
Have your camera ready
From the moment you arrive, you’ll find yourself immersed in one of the most biodiverse places on Earth. Scarlet macaws, playful dolphins, monkeys, and even sloths often make an appearance before you reach the hotel – so keep your camera ready!
For easy payments
Both U.S. dollars and Costa Rican colones are widely accepted. Please note there are no ATMs in Drake Bay, so we recommend withdrawing cash in San José before your arrival.
